Create a material sample card

Attach short finished samples to a card with the cord material, strand count and starting lengths. Record the finished length so you can estimate material for a similar decorative project. Keep a small unbraided sample beside each braid for comparison.

Keep the finished note with its date and source material. Return to it when you repeat the exercise, and add what changed rather than replacing the earlier observation.
